Guanajuato

Come explore one of the the most beautiful cities in Mexico—Guanajuato.

Guanajuato is a central Mexican state known as the birthplace of the country’s independence. Its capital, also named Guanajuato, is home to the Alhóndiga de Granaditas granary, where the first battle with 19th-century Spain was fought. The former mining town is also famous for its hilly, cobbled alleys lined with colonial architecture and picturesque garden plazas like the Jardín de La Unión.

Several of my friends want to live here—in fact, one just bought a house perched on the side of one of the hills. I love the city...it is relaxed and filled with life, and like Morelia, has a large student population. Located about 6 hours from Morelia, this is a gorgeous place to visit!
